Hot take: fabric stores shouldn't separate patterns by brand

I was at Joann's in Spokane last Saturday looking for a good hoodie pattern. Spent 45 minutes digging through McCall's, Simplicity, Vogue, Butterick in separate damn aisles. Nobody shops that way. We look for style and size, not brand name. A size 18 jumpsuit pattern could be in four different places. I asked a cutter about it and she shrugged said corporate decides. It's inefficient and wastes my time. Why can't they just sort by garment type and size range? Has anyone else run into this headache?

Wait wait wait... did you say 45 minutes? I would have lost my mind about 10 minutes in and just walked out empty handed. Last time I went pattern shopping I nearly threw a stack of Simplicity envelopes across the aisle because I couldn't find a size 16 dress anywhere near the size 16 pants patterns. They really need to just dump them all in big bins sorted by size and project type. A pattern is a pattern no matter who printed it.

Is 45 minutes really that big of a deal?
