Had to get a post set in a tight corner yesterday, no room for the auger.

Grabbed a pressure washer with a jetting nozzle and just blasted a hole down. Took about 15 minutes and the concrete went in perfect. Ever tried something that dumb that actually worked?

That's actually genius. Pressure washer as a dirt drill, never would have thought of that.

My buddy Dave in Ohio tried this last summer to set a fence post. He blasted a three foot hole in like ten minutes, @john_cooper, but then the sides just caved right in when he tried to put the post in. Total mess.

Dave probably just went too fast with it. You gotta go slow and let the water cut the dirt, not just blast it all out. If you keep the hole full of water while you work, it helps hold the shape until you're ready. A little patience and that method works fine for setting posts.
