TIL a trick for squeaky subfloors that actually worked

Had a squeaky spot on a job in a 1970s ranch house, and instead of just screwing it down, I tried putting a little carpenter's glue in the seam before fastening. The squeak is totally gone now, which I didn't expect. What's your go-to method for quieting a noisy floor?

Glue in the seam? That sounds like a temporary fix at best. Won't that just make a mess and potentially cause problems if you ever need to pull up the boards? I've always found that squeaks come back unless you get right to the source with proper screws from below.
