Found a weird trick to keep hydrangeas from wilting in a delivery van

I had a big wedding order in Sacramento last month and the blue hydrangeas kept drooping before I could even get them to the venue. On a whim, I tried dipping just the stem ends in boiling water for 30 seconds before putting them in the final arrangement. It sounds crazy, but it actually worked and they stayed perky for the whole 8-hour event. Has anyone else tried this method with other fussy flowers?

That boiling water trick saved my peonies last spring.

Wait, isn't that for hydrangeas?

Glad that worked for @skylerb15. I've had good luck with that method on my own peonies when the buds get stubborn. It seems to shock them into opening up just in time.
