Just realized my proposal format was turning off local clients

A potential client in Austin told me my proposals looked 'too corporate' and made them think I was expensive. I switched to a simpler one-page format with bullet points and my close rate jumped from like 20% to almost 50% in two months. Anyone else find that simpler is better for smaller businesses?

Absolutely, that tracks. I used to send these massive PDF proposals and got ghosted constantly. Switched to a clean Google Doc with three clear sections: what I'll do, what it costs, and the next step. Started closing deals way faster.

Makes perfect sense. People just want the basics without having to hunt for them. A huge PDF feels like homework, and nobody has time for that. Clear sections cut through the noise and tell the client exactly what they're getting into. It's less about fancy design and more about removing speed bumps.

Totally read that somewhere, less is more.
