I finally finished a job that almost broke me last week
Had a client bring in a huge oak table that was covered in old, thick varnish. Spent two full days just stripping it with a heat gun and my trusty Bahco scraper, and my arms are still sore. The wood underneath was beautiful, but the client wanted a milk paint finish, which is always tricky to get smooth. After three coats and a ton of sanding, it looked perfect on Friday. Has anyone else had a project that felt like a marathon from start to finish?

Milk paint over fresh wood can be a nightmare with adhesion. The tannins in oak sometimes bleed through and cause weird stains later on. All that sanding might have been the only thing that saved the finish.

Heard milk paint can be a real pain to work with. Did you use a special kind of sandpaper between coats?
