Seriously! Slate gets such a bad rap because it's so common, but that's what makes it cool. You can find huge, solid pieces perfect for garden paths or even homemade coasters. I mean, the way it splits into thin, flat sheets is awesome for all sorts of crafty stuff. It's not just some boring grey rock when you actually look at the different colors and layers. People skip right over it hunting for flashy gems, but a good slab of slate is way more useful.
