Vent: Saw a glassblower at the state fair charging $15 for a basic marble and calling it 'art glass'

I was at the Ohio State Fair last weekend and watched a guy at a booth making what looked like a simple, clear marble with a tiny bit of color. He was selling it for fifteen bucks and telling people it was 'fine art glass'. It felt a bit off to me, like it was just a quick souvenir. What do you think makes something 'art glass' versus just a basic piece?

Okay, calling a basic fair marble "fine art glass" is a bit of a stretch. I bought a similar one years ago and it rolled under my fridge the first day. Is it art if its main purpose is collecting dust bunnies? Maybe the "art" is in the story you tell when you find it six months later.

Chill, it's just a souvenir like margaret_gonzalez25 said.

Margaret, the "collecting dust bunnies" line is funny, but I see it the other way. That guy had the skill to make it right there in front of everyone, which is pretty hard. The fair price covers his time, the booth cost, and the fact you watched it happen. Calling it art glass might feel like a stretch, but it's still a real thing made by hand, not a factory souvenir. That's worth something more to me.
