Update: Why do all pizza box designs feel so lazy now?
I was trying to find some FRESH inspiration for a packaging project and grabbed a few takeout boxes. Every single one had the same red and white color scheme with basic fonts! It's so frustrating because pizza boxes could be SO creative. I saw this small shop once that used a cool mosaic pattern inspired by cheese, but they switched to a plain template last year. How can I get excited about design when even fun stuff like food packaging gets dumbed down? I miss seeing bold choices that make you stop and look. Maybe I need to hunt down vintage food ads or something for better ideas.

Totally agree, I saw an amazing cheese-themed box once that got replaced with boring red and white.

Honestly I get why they go for the simple look though. That cheese box sounds fun but maybe it didn't sell well? The plain red and white probably works for more people and is easier to spot on a shelf. It's a bummer when cool stuff gets replaced but I bet the boring box just moves more product.

That "boring red and white" thing happens everywhere, companies always pick the Safe choice over anything Interesting.
