Why does nobody talk about the weird way Facebook Ads Manager counts conversions?
I ran a small campaign for a local bike shop in Austin with a $500 budget, targeting people who looked at their site. The manager said we got 22 purchases, but the shop's own system only showed 9. Turns out the default setting counts things like 'add to cart' as a purchase if you don't change it. Learned to always double-check the attribution window and match it to the client's backend. Has anyone else had this happen with a service-based business?

alexc93 yeah the manual setup thing is key. A buddy of mine ran ads for a dog grooming place and their "bookings" were actually people just checking the price page.

Yeah that "default setting counts add to cart as a purchase" thing got me too. I used to just trust the numbers until a client asked where their sales were. Now I always set up the conversions manually to match their actual goal.
