Client signed a contract without reading it and then blamed us

Last week a client came back furious about a clause in their marketing retainer. They signed the agreement 3 months ago and claimed we hid the auto-renewal terms. I pulled the signed doc and showed them the bolded section they initialed. They still argued it was buried. Now I'm having every new client initial every major clause individually. Has anyone else had a client try to back out of something they agreed to in writing?

Client signed a contract without reading it and then blamed us" - man that hits close to home. It reminds me of how people treat terms of service or app updates too. Everyone just clicks agree without looking, then gets mad when something happens they didn't expect. It's like we're all in such a rush we skip the boring parts and act surprised later. I honestly think it's a modern habit where people just assume nothing bad is in the fine print. But once you initialed it, that's on you, not the company. Still, I get your frustration, people want to take zero responsibility for their own choices.

It's wild how this mindset leaks into everything too. Like people will buy a used car without checking it out first, then complain the AC doesn't work. Or they'll skip reading a menu fully and get mad when their food has onions. It's just a weird trend of assuming everything will be fine until it isn't.
