That $450 trademark search I paid for saved my ass on a campaign name last week

I was about to launch a big ad campaign for a new client in Phoenix and the name felt fine to me. Spent $450 on a proper trademark search through a legit agency lawyer my buddy recommended. Turns out a company in Texas already had a similar name and they were litigious. Would've cost me way more in rebranding and stress if I had just rolled with it. Anyone else shell out for stuff like this and have it pay off or was I just lucky?

Paid $300 for a search last year that saved me from a lawsuit over a restaurant name.

Oh man, that's exactly the kind of close call that makes you feel like the money was well spent. @derek656 I get what you're saying about sometimes it feels like a gamble, but with my last big project I spent $400 on a search and it turned up a small bakery with a really similar name in a different state. They weren't gonna sue or anything, but it saved me from a whole rebranding mess down the road when I could have been expanding into their area. Those little things add up fast in legal fees and lost time, so I'd rather throw a few hundred at a search and sleep easy.

Think you got lucky honestly. Half the time those searches turn up nothing and you could just change a word or two if someone actually came after you.
