I think most people here are way too picky about AI mashup quality

Back in 2022 when I first started messing with DALL-E 2, I would spend hours tweaking prompts to get a realistic mashup of a giraffe made out of traffic cones. Now I just type "flamingo shaped like a waffle iron" into Midjourney and share whatever comes out, glitches and all. The weird blobs and extra limbs are what make these funny, not the polished stuff. Am I the only one who likes the messy ones more?

Got a buddy who spent like two hours last week trying to blend a pug with a croissant in Midjourney and the first result had three eyes and a tail coming out of its ear. He almost deleted it but his girlfriend laughed so hard she cried, so he posted it and it got 400 upvotes on some meme page. Now he just throws random words together and lets the AI do whatever, the messy ones are the ones people actually love.

Is your buddy basically doing that on purpose now, or does he still try to make something normal and just fails?

...I mean, is it really that deep though? People get hung up on "the process" but if the result is funny and people like it, what's the actual problem? I've seen guys spend hours tweaking prompts to get something "perfect" and it gets like 12 likes, meanwhile some absurd accident gets thousands. Your buddy might just be onto something, honestly. The whole "trying to make something normal" thing is kind of overrated when you look at what actually gets traction online. Maybe he's just finally accepted that the AI has a mind of its own and he's along for the ride.
