I keep seeing guys skip the final walk test with the customer in the room
They'll test the system before handing over the keypad, but not after showing the homeowner how to arm it. Had a call back because a door contact was loose and the chime didn't sound when they set it. Do you always run the full demo with the system live?

Honestly, that final walk test is the only proof the customer has that everything works. Skipping it is just asking for trouble. It turns a simple install into a debate about whether the problem is your gear or their walls. You're basically leaving the job half done and hoping they don't notice.

My buddy had a client call him back a week after a speaker install. Said the rear left channel was dead. He had to drive all the way back out there, and guess what? The customer had just bumped the wire loose moving furniture. If he'd done the walk test with her at the end, she would have heard it worked and known it was her fault. Cost him a whole afternoon for free.

Why even risk that call back, right?
