Heard a guy at the parts counter complain about spot weld quality

I was picking up some panel bond yesterday at NAPA and listened to this old school body man grumble about how factory spot welds on a 2018 F-150 were barely holding. He said he drilled out a whole door skin and half the welds just popped loose without any resistance. Made me wonder if anyone else is noticing worse factory weld quality on newer trucks or if that guy just got a bad batch.

Those welds popping loose sounds like the door was held together with hopes and dreams honestly.

Wait what exactly popped loose? Like the whole door frame welds? That's genuinely terrifying to think about while driving down the highway. I've seen some SHODDY patch jobs before but that takes the cake. Must have been pretty sketchy to leave it that way. Honestly surprised it held on for as long as it did.
