Took me 15 years to figure out I was carrying my pack wrong

I always had my hip belt sitting too low, basically carrying all the weight on my shoulders. Last summer a guy on the JMT trail pointed out the belt should sit right on your hip bones, not below them. Has anyone else had a basic setup habit that took way too long to break?

Agree with @cora_scott77 - belt right on the bone keeps weight on your hips, not your shoulders.

Read somewhere the belt should sit above your hips not on them for better support.

Right? That's so true. I made the same mistake for years and always wondered why my back hurt after a hike lmao. Once I slid it up higher it was a total game changer.
