Used to plan every mile with paper maps now I just go with my phone
Back in 2018 I'd spread topo maps across my kitchen table for hours before a trip, but last month I just loaded the AllTrails route on my phone and hit the trail. Anyone else miss the old way or am I just being nostalgic?

Same here. I still keep a folded-up topo map in my door panel for the areas I hit most. There's something about marking your route with a pen and actually seeing the whole landscape at once that a phone screen just can't do. @kaiharris gets it, that feeling of being a real explorer instead of just following a blue dot is hard to beat. Always nice to know I'm not the only one who hasn't gone full digital with everything.

Oh man, I still carry paper maps in my glovebox just to feel like a real explorer and not a GPS zombie!

Wait, people actually still use paper maps in 2024? I thought those were just for decoration at this point lmao.
