Tried switching to a digital-only wallet for 2 weeks in Chicago and got locked out of my own money
I was sick of carrying cards around so I put everything on Google Pay and Apple Pay. Day 9 my phone died while I was trying to grab lunch at a small deli that only took cash. Couldn't get into my bank app on someone else's phone cause I didn't have my 2FA codes backed up anywhere. Learned real quick that digital wallets are fine until your battery or signal gives out. Anyone else run into this or am I just dumb?

Read a news article saying some states are trying to pass laws to keep cash payment options around.

Cash is the only payment method my grandma trusts. She still wraps it in a napkin before handing it over. If they ever outlaw cash, she'll be out here paying for groceries with a paper check and a confused stare. Guess I'm just as old fashioned, because I still like the feeling of actual money in my wallet. Feels real, you know?

Wait, are they really trying to outlaw the only payment method that doesn't need a working phone or WiFi? That's like making a law that says you can't use a paper map anymore because everyone should just use GPS. I get that digital payments are convenient and all, but cash is still king for like half the country. It's weird that states even have to pass laws just to keep the option open when you'd think it'd be common sense. Guess the card companies are getting pushy again, huh?
