Found a simple trick to stop my oxy-fuel torch from backfiring on pipe

I kept getting pops and flashbacks on 6-inch schedule 40, turned out I was cracking the oxygen valve too fast. Slowing down to a quarter-turn per second fixed it completely - anyone else notice that makes a difference?

Did anyone check if it's the exhaust hangers rattling against the frame? On some models, a loose hanger can mimic a popping sound that feels like it's coming from the engine bay. A buddy of mine fixed his by just tightening one bolt back there.
