Our book club tried a Zoom meeting versus meeting at the library in Springfield and it was a disaster

We read 'Project Hail Mary' and tried to discuss it over Zoom last month, but half the group had connection issues and someone's cat kept walking on their keyboard. The next week we met at the Springfield Public Library and had a real, focused talk for a full hour with no tech problems. The in-person debate about the book's science was way better because we could actually hear each other and see reactions. Has your club had a bad experience trying to meet online for a tricky book?

Our club's Zoom chat for that book was just people talking over each other.

Switched to in-person after our own Zoom mess for that book. Like @the_nina said, the talking over each other online kills real talk. Meeting at the cafe let us actually get into the science stuff without tech fights.

Totally get it, our online group chat for that book was just a mess of crosstalk too.
