Rant: Stop using the wrong lineweights on your MEP plans

The AUGI forums had a thread a while back about a firm that standardized all their MEP lineweights to three settings (0.13mm, 0.25mm, and 0.50mm) and it supposedly cut their redline markups in half. I think that kind of clear layering is the bare minimum, but people still treat lineweights like they're optional decoration. Drives me nuts when a simple riser diagram turns into a detective game because someone couldn't be bothered to pick a different lineweight for waste pipes.

Had a chat with my nephew about One Piece pacing and it made me rethink my whole watchlist

Everything's about quantity over quality these days.

Chat with a floor guy made me rethink ad frequency caps

Strong disagree, more touches build familiarity with your brand and your friend just happened to catch a glitchy day. @mila_flores8 the research actually shows frequency builds trust even if people claim it annoys them in the moment.

Debate: GPS routes vs paper maps on the John Muir Trail...

Thousand Island Lake was actually where my paper map saved me last fall. I get that GPS is convenient, but those dead zones are real and they pop up at the worst times. Paper maps force you to actually learn the terrain instead of just following a blue line, which matters a lot when you're first starting out on the JMT. Have you tried using both together yet - like downloading offline maps on your phone but keeping a folded paper map as your main reference?

My first Python script crashed my computer last Tuesday

Had a similar thing happen with an infinite loop that was writing to a file. Didn't notice until my SSD was completely full and Windows threw a fit. The file ended up being like 50GB and it took forever to delete because the system kept trying to index it. Learned the hard way to always put a delay in loops that write data or hell just add a counter that breaks after like 1000 iterations. Those early lessons stick with you though, now I triple check every loop condition before I hit run.
