Flagged an account with 4 blurry selfies, then it DM'd me a Discord link at 2am
Found a profile Tuesday on here with 4 posts in 20 minutes, all blurry selfies and one pic of a coffee cup. Timestamps were identical down to the second. I checked the bio and it said 'just a normal girl who loves life' with 3 emojis. Sent it a DM asking where she got the coffee, and 9 minutes later got a Discord invite and a crypto link. How do you all test for this stuff without getting the link first?
Ever notice how these fake accounts always slip up on the small stuff, like exact same timestamps or a bio that sounds like a greeting card? It's the same thing with scam calls and fake reviews, the tell is usually in the details that feel too neat or too generic. So next time you can just check the post history and timestamps first, and if it smells off, you skip the DM and report it instead of waiting for the link.
That "bio that sounds like a greeting card" line is spot on, I saw the same thing with a bot last month and the generic bio was the giveaway. Checking timestamps and post gaps before replying saved me from a Discord invite once, so now I just report the second the pattern looks scripted.
