Why does everyone assume the Bothell farmers market vendors set their own prices?

I talked to three vendors last Saturday and found out the market board actually sets a minimum price list they have to follow, so those $8 tomato baskets aren't the farmer's choice at all, has anyone else confirmed this with the market manager?

Yeah totally, talked to the market manager last month and she said the same thing about the minimum prices.

Yeah haggling saved me twenty bucks right off the bat.

I mean yeah but what nobody's talking about is how haggling actually changes how the vendor sees you. Like when you just pay the sticker price they forget you five seconds later. But if you haggle a little and end up with a fair deal, they remember your face next time and might even hook you up with better stuff or throw in extras. Idk maybe it's just me but I notice I get way better service and sometimes even lower prices on future visits because they know I'm not just some random person grabbing and going.
