Shoutout to the guy who showed me a better way to mix small batches
I always used a big wheelbarrow for any mortar, even a small repair. Last week on a job in Springfield, another layer saw me struggling to get the right consistency for just a dozen bricks. He said, 'Just use a 5-gallon bucket and a drill mixer.' I tried it the next day and it was way faster, less waste, and the mix was perfect every time. Anyone else use a bucket for small jobs instead of breaking out the barrow?

Wait, you were using a whole wheelbarrow for a dozen bricks?

Sounds like a classic case of over-preparing for the job.

Reminds me of a guy who brought a full tool belt to assemble flat pack furniture. Had a torque wrench and everything for a bookshelf that needed an Allen key.
