Overheard a guy at the hostel say something that clicked

Some backpacker in the common room was bragging he spent $600 on flights to Europe because he booked last minute. Meanwhile I booked mine 6 months out for $340 round trip through a budget airline. Does anyone else plan that far ahead or am I just cheap?

$340 is a steal but I don't think cheap equals planning six months out, sometimes luck just happens.
