Overheard someone say 'eating out is just paying for dishes' and it hit me
I was grabbing coffee last week and this guy at the next table said restaurants charge you $18 for a pasta dish because you're really paying for their labor, rent, and dishwashing. Looked back at my budget and realized I dropped $340 on takeout in February alone, that's like 4 weeks of groceries for me. Has anyone else had that moment where you just stop and calculate what a habit actually costs?

Wait, does that mean I paid for dishes 47 times last month?

Oh man, I used to think those fees were a one-time thing too. Yeah, that changed my mind completely.

lindaowens said "paid for dishes 47 times last month" and honestly that number hit me hard. I did the math on my own coffee runs last year and almost choked. It was like $1,460 just on lattes and pastries, which is basically a cheap used car. The scariest part is that I never even thought about it until I saw it all written down. Small purchases add up way faster than big ones because you don't notice them leaving your wallet.
