I used a washi tape sample pack to test color combos before I committed to buying the full rolls

Turned out the $5 pack I ignored for 6 months saved me from buying a whole set of olive greens that looked terrible against my purple ink, so has anyone else skipped samples and regretted it?

Olive and purple sounds like a nightmare combo, I can totally see why the samples saved you. I skipped a sample set of mint and coral last year, thought it would look fresh and fun. Ended up buying full rolls of three different corals that all clashed with my mauve washi. Now I have a drawer full of regret and a very particular coral collection. Samples are cheap insurance for sure.

oh man @henderson.vera i gotta disagree on this one. olive and purple together just feels like a bruise to me, no matter the shade. i had a whole phase with mustard and lavender and that was rough enough. samples are definitely the way to go though, learned that the hard way with a full set of teal washi that looked totally different in person.

I mean, I kind of get where you're coming from but olive and purple can actually be gorgeous together if you get the right shades. Like a muted sage green with a dusty plum has this really soft, romantic vibe that's totally different from what you'd expect. Maybe it's just me but I think sometimes the combos that sound the worst on paper end up being the most interesting.
