My landlord tried to talk me out of a rent increase last week

I've been in this apartment in Denver for 4 years. Landlord called me up last Tuesday saying they wanted to bump rent $150 a month because "market rates are up." I pushed back and showed them comparables from three buildings within 2 blocks that were all $50-75 cheaper. They dropped the increase to $50 on the spot. Has anyone else gotten a landlord to back down just by showing them real numbers?
