Remember when paying bills meant writing checks and mailing them 5 days early?

I finally set up automatic bill pay for my utilities last month after years of procrastination. Turns out my local power company in Austin actually gives a 3% discount if you enroll in autopay and paperless billing. I was losing about $15 a month just because I was too lazy to change it. Has anyone else found random discounts like this that they ignored for way too long?

Oh yeah, I found out my internet provider gives a $10 monthly credit if you bring your own modem instead of renting theirs. I rented a modem from them for like two years before I even knew that was a thing. Bought a modem on sale for $40, so it paid for itself in four months. Also my car insurance has a discount for paying the full six months upfront instead of monthly payments. Tiny things like that add up more than people realize.

Maybe it's just me but my gym charges $5 less if you don't use the app.

My doctor’s office does the same thing with their billing portal, $5 off each visit if you pay online instead of at the desk. Took me a whole year and a random email to figure that one out lol. Little discounts like that really do sneak up on you, your gym letting you skip the app fee is a solid win.
