My niece called my favorite jeans 'cheugy' and I had to look it up

She's 14 and said it just means something that's trying too hard to be trendy but is actually out of date. It hit different because I bought those jeans last fall thinking they were cool. Is this word actually everywhere now or just with the kids?

My nephew said my whole vibe was cheugy last year. I just told him his generation will look outdated in five years too. Now we roast each other's clothes for fun.

Oh man, that reminds me of when I wore a band t-shirt to a barbecue and my nephew asked if it was "vintage" or if I just bought it at the mall. I didn't know how to answer.

My cousin's kid called my new sneakers cheugy last week, so I feel your pain. The cycle is getting faster than I can shop.
