Old timer at a shop in Portland told me to stop using glue on MDF edges and I'm still not sure if he was right
He said it just swells the fibers and you're better off with a hot iron and some beeswax for sealing, but I've been doing glue-and-sand for years on melamine and it holds up fine - anyone else get conflicting advice on edge finishing that made you question your whole method?

Has he actually tried ironing beeswax into MDF edges himself? I've found that glue-and-sand method works because the glue soaks in and hardens the fibers before you sand them smooth. Melamine edges especially need something that bonds well, not just a wax seal that can rub off over time. Unless you're talking about exposed particle board edges where swelling is a real risk, I'd stick with your glue and keep moving.

Max, you ever tried waxing MDF then wondering why it looks like a greasy bumper?
