Ngl hitting 50 job applications without a callback made me rethink the whole process
Honestly everyone says to just spam applications and the numbers game will work out. But hitting that 50 mark with zero responses finally made me realize I was doing something wrong. Tbh I was sending the same generic resume to every posting and wondering why nothing stuck. Once I started tailoring my resume for each role and writing a quick cover letter, my callback rate jumped to like 1 in 10. Has anyone else found that quality beats quantity when job hunting?

Did you try reaching out to people at the companies you applied to? For me, sending a quick LinkedIn message to someone in the team before applying made a huge difference. It changed my callback rate way more than just spamming apps.

That's assuming you have connections worth reaching out to... most of us don't.

Reach out but think about timing too. I noticed if you message someone right after they post about a success or a new project on LinkedIn, they're way more likely to reply because they're already in a good mood. Most people just cold message with no context and wonder why it goes nowhere. Also don't ask for a job in the first message, just ask about their work or the team culture. Nobody's thought about the psychology of when you slide into those DMs.
