Just realized I cut 1,237 feet of seam tape this week without measuring once
I started marking my tape dispenser with a permanent marker at 6 inch intervals and now I can pull exactly what I need every time without stopping to grab a ruler, has anyone else tried marking their tools like this?

Marking the tool works great until one day the tape shifts and your cabinets come out looking like modern art.

Marking your tools sounds like a time saver but it just trains you to trust your eyes over actual measurements. One wrong mark or a shifted tape roll and you'll be cutting everything an inch off before you even notice. Faster isn't better when you're building cabinets that need to be dead-on to the 16th.
