The difference 18 months made in my seaming technique is unreal...
Switched from a standard hand seamer to a power stretcher with a deep pile attachment and my seams went from visible every time to totally invisible, even on that thick Berber job in Mrs. Patterson's living room last Tuesday... anyone else notice a huge change after upgrading their gear?

Grace Bailey brings up a good point about curves near doorways. But @the_cameron, hand seamers can actually get great tension if you take your time and use the right technique - it's more about your method than the tool. A power stretcher is helpful on big open areas but for most residential work a knee kicker and a steady hand are still totally fine.

Started using a power stretcher on some medium pile nylon last month and yeah the difference is night and day. Hand seamers just cant get that consistent tension across the whole strip, especially on the curves near doorways. The deep pile attachment saved me on a shag carpet job that wouldve been a nightmare before.

Uh, "night and day"? I call overkill. Hand seamers have been getting it done for decades and a power stretcher just adds weight and setup time for minimal gain on residential stuff. I've laid plenty of medium pile nylon with a knee kicker and never had complaints.
