TIL my neighbor lied about being a marine biologist for 3 years straight

Saw her post a photo of a 'rare deep sea fish' from a vacation in Florida. Turns out it was a common catfish from a pet store tank. I counted 12 comments praising her expertise before someone in the thread called it out with a screenshot.

Read something similar on Reddit about a guy claiming to be a park ranger for two years.

Man, that's brutal. At least when I pretend to be an expert on something, I keep it small like telling people I know how to change a tire when really I just watch YouTube tutorials in the parking lot. Three years is some serious commitment to the bit, though. I can barely remember what I had for breakfast yesterday, let alone keep a fake career going that long.

Man, I had a buddy who once told a girl he was a "marine biologist" for six months. Turns out he just watched a lot of Shark Week, @phoenix_thompson4.
