That old heat pump took way longer to swap out than I expected
I started replacing my 2005 heat pump on a Saturday morning, figured it would be a 6 hour job tops. Got the old unit disconnected and hauled out by noon, but then I hit a snag with the new refrigerant lines - they didn't match up with the existing holes in the wall. Had to run to the hardware store twice, once for a different sized drill bit and again for a grommet kit. By the time I had the new system charged and running, it was almost 9pm Sunday night - took me two full days instead of a few hours. Anyone else run into weird old house quirks that blew up their timeline like that?

Old houses never have straight walls or standard hole placements, it's always a guessing game.

...and that's why I've got a level in my tool bag that's older than me. Found it in my grandpa's stuff, still works fine. I just accept the walls are doing their own thing now, makes finding studs a real adventure.

Why do my stud finders always lie to me too?
