Tried a $20 air quality monitor in my apartment and it changed how I think about indoor pollution

Ngl I always thought climate action was just about cars and factories, but after seeing my PM2.5 spike every time I cook on my gas stove, I finally get that personal habits matter too. Has anyone else found a cheap sensor that actually helped them change something at home?

Is it really that serious though? Unless you're cooking in a sealed plastic bubble for hours your lungs can handle a little smoke from dinner.

Honestly, I'm with you but my lungs must be dramatic because I set off the smoke alarm once just boiling water too fast. Tbh, my cooking "skills" produce so much smoke I keep a fan pointed at the stove like it's a campfire I'm trying to tame. Ngl, if I ever take up welding it'll probably be cleaner than my attempt at stir fry last night.

Boiling water too fast set off your smoke alarm? That's honestly the most impressive kitchen fail I've heard in a while. Please tell me you didn't burn the water.
