Just realized I was overcomplicating my French press routine

Used to do this whole 4-minute steep with a stir and a bloom step, but my buddy Jake from work showed me his method last Tuesday - just dump water in, wait 5 minutes, press. Brew came out cleaner and I saved $20 on a fancy gooseneck kettle I never needed. Anyone else ditch their extra steps once they tried the simple way?

...and honestly the gooseneck kettle thing is such a trap. I used to measure out 17 grams of beans and do this whole swirl and wait thing with the bloom and then stir again after a minute. My coffee was fine but not really better than when I just dump the grounds in, pour the hot water from my regular kettle, and walk away for five minutes. The real game changer for me was just using a coarse grind and not touching it at all during the steep. I still weigh the beans because I'm a nerd about it, but the whole extra step ritual was just making me late for work.

Feel you @grayc27, sometimes simpler really is better when you just need the caffeine and get out the door.
