Spent 4 hours chasing a leak that was just a bad O-ring on my comms cable

Working a bridge inspection in Mobile, kept getting water in my helmet comms. Figured it was the main seal or a cracked fitting. Took the whole system apart twice, pressure tested every section. Finally found it was a tiny, worn out O-ring on the cable connector itself, a part I never even thought to check. Cost me half a day's pay on that job. What other small parts do you guys check first before tearing into the big stuff?

Yeah, I've been that guy too, chasing ghosts. Derek656 is right about the cheap seals, I once swapped a whole pump before checking a two-dollar gasket. What's your go-to first check on a pressure system?

Start with the gauges, honestly. I've seen guys tear into valves and lines for an hour before they even look at the pressure reading. If the gauge is stuck or reads zero, you might not have a leak at all, just a bad gauge. It's the easiest thing to check and it tells you so much right away.

Check the cheap seals before the expensive fittings.
