I finally had to pick between a 40-ton and a 60-ton for a tight job downtown

Went with the 40-ton to save on the permit and street closure fees, but we ended up having to make three extra picks because the reach was just a hair short. Anyone else had a job where the smaller crane seemed right on paper but cost you more time?

We had a 50-ton job last year where the bigger rig's setup fee was way higher. The extra day of labor for the smaller crane ate up all those savings though. Sometimes the upfront cost isn't the whole story.

Right, @jessica_ross38, the cheap pick is often the expensive choice.

Did you factor in the operator's overtime?
