Spent $80 on a writing prompt book that was just recycled ideas

I bought 'The Ultimate Prompt Collection' online after seeing ads everywhere. It arrived and half the prompts were things like 'write about a rainy day' or 'describe a character with a secret'. I could have found better stuff for free on any writing blog. Has anyone else wasted cash on a prompt book that wasn't worth it?

Ugh, that's the worst. Honestly, I'm starting to think the real writing prompt is figuring out why we keep buying this stuff. It's like they're selling the idea of being a writer, not actual useful tools. You pay for the feeling that you're doing something serious about your hobby. Next time maybe we should just throw the cash in a jar and label it "writing time fund" instead.

Yeah, that sucks. I've been there. Feels like getting scammed out of motivation.

Oh man, lane.cameron, I totally get that scammed feeling. I used to believe buying the fancy notebook or app would magically fix everything. But carter.terry is right, it's just paying for the idea of being a writer. Now I see it's just another way to avoid the actual work of writing, which is just sitting down and doing it. All that stuff just becomes clutter that makes me feel guilty.
