That week in July when the framers showed up 3 days late and rain ruined everything

I had a slab poured and ready for a 2,400 sq ft custom build outside Austin. Framers were supposed to start Monday, but they didn't roll in until Thursday afternoon. Then Friday morning a storm came through and soaked all the lumber that was sitting on the ground. We lost a full week waiting for replacement wood and drying everything out. Has anyone else dealt with framers who just don't show up and mess up your whole schedule?

Buddy of mine had this happen in Houston. Framers showed up late, then a random storm hit right after they unloaded. His lumber sat in mud for two days before they even touched it. Ended up with bowed studs and split decking that they tried to hide under the house wrap. He caught it when he checked the nail pops. Had to fight with the contractor to replace it all, added two weeks to the schedule and cost him 4 grand out of pocket.

Heard this EXACT same story from my friend who built outside San Antonio last year. His framers ghosted for almost a week, then showed up hungover on a Tuesday. The lumber got soaked and warped before they even got it off the ground, total nightmare. He ended up having to pay for a whole new shipment because the insurance wouldn't cover "contractor negligence." His build ended up being pushed back almost a month because of that one delay and the rain that followed.

His framers ghosted for almost a week" that part gets me. I've seen that happen where guys just vanish and come back like nothing happened, messing up the whole flow. Once you lose that momentum and the weather turns, it's a domino effect you can't stop.
