Wish I never ignored that deleted scene tip from a YouTube commenter
I saw a deleted scene from the Harry Potter movies on TikTok a few weeks back where Dumbledore explains more about the horcruxes. Some guy in the comments said watch the alternate ending on the extended edition DVD because it changes the whole setup for the last movie. I blew it off thinking it was just fan hype. Then my buddy brought over his copy of the fifth movie and we watched that alternate ending where Sirius's death hits way different with a longer conversation. I spent 2 hours digging through my streaming services trying to find it and nothing has it. The guy was totally right and now I have to borrow the DVD because I missed my chance to catch it. Has anyone else found a deleted scene online that totally changed how you see a character or plot?

I dunno, sometimes director's cuts just add extra stuff that doesn't really improve anything.

Actually, Blade Runner had a few different versions not just the Final Cut. There was the 1982 theatrical cut with the voiceover and happy ending, then the 1992 Director's Cut which removed the voiceover and added the unicorn dream, and THEN the 2007 Final Cut which Ridley Scott finally had full control over. So the Final Cut isn't technically a "director's cut" in the same way - it's more like the definitive version he always wanted but couldn't get approved. And honestly, even the theatrical cut has its defenders who think the voiceover adds a noir detective feel. But yeah, you're right that a lot of director's cuts are just padding that should've stayed on the cutting room floor.

Oh man, I gotta disagree with you there... some director's cuts are way better than the original. Look at Kingdom of Heaven, the theatrical cut is a mess but the director's cut turns it into a legit epic with way more character stuff. And Blade Runner, the Final Cut fixes the voiceover and gives it a proper ending. But yeah, I get what you mean about some being pointless, like when they just add an extra ten minutes of boring scenes that got cut for a reason. I guess it depends on the director and how much the studio messed with their vision in the first place.
