Hit 500 engine rebuilds this month and didn't even realize it till I counted the logbook
I was flipping through my old notebooks last week and added up all the rebuilds I've done since starting at Hightower Diesel in Austin back in 2012. Turns out I just passed 500 engines, mostly 6.7 Powerstrokes and some old 5.9 Cummins from the farm trucks. Never thought I'd hit that number because I just show up and turn wrenches every day. How many rebuilds have you guys logged without keeping track?

Oh come on Fiona, that's reading way too much into it. A logbook isn't some grand plan, it's just part of the job when you're tracking warranties and parts used so you don't get screwed on billing. I write down the date, engine type, and serial number so I can look back if something fails later, not to count up totals for a trophy. Counting them up was just something I did on a slow Sunday with a beer in my hand, not some calculated move to flex online.

Man I gotta say that feels like a weird flex honestly. Keeping a logbook that detailed just seems like you're already keeping track even if you don't think you are, nobody writes down 500 rebuilds by accident. If you're really just showing up and turning wrenches you wouldn't have a logbook to count in the first place.

Fiona's got a point though, who keeps receipts unless they're counting?
