Can we talk about how my old Wacom tablet felt better than my new iPad for drawing?
I used my old Intuos 4 for about 8 years before upgrading to an iPad Pro last spring. Turns out the screen texture on the iPad makes my hand slip around too much and I miss the paper-like feel of the old tablet. Anyone else stick with an older setup because it just feels right?

Does the old surface actually get better with wear or am I just used to it?

8 years on an Intuos 4? That thing is ancient. Mine died after 5. The surface got all scratched up. I get the paper feel thing though, the iPad glass is way too slippery for me too.

Those Wacom Intuos surfaces are notorious for wearing out. I actually heard from a friend who's a heavy illustrator that you can buy replacement surface sheets for the Intuos 4. Might be a way to keep that old workhorse going if you really like it. The paperlike screen protectors for the iPad are a whole different thing too. They wear down your Apple Pencil tip a lot faster but that texture is a game changer if you hate the glass feel. My own old Intuos 3 held up way longer than I expected but the USB port finally gave out.
