Lost a client in Bali because the wifi went out for 3 days straight
I was working from a co-working space in Ubud back in 2019. Storm took out the power and internet for the whole area. Missed a deadline for a big editing project. Client said they couldn't work with someone unreliable. Learned quick to always have a backup sim card with data loaded up. Anyone else get burned by spotty internet in a tropical spot?

Yeah that early morning bandwidth thing is legit, I keep a local hotspot too now.

Same thing happened to me in Costa Rica. Backup sim data is the way to go, but it can still be slow. Ended up buying a mobile hotspot from a local shop that ran on a different network than my regular provider. Worked even when the main tower went down. Also started saving big file uploads for the early morning when the bandwidth was less crowded. That combo saved my ass more than once.

Backup sim data is the way to go" - amen to that. Did the same thing in Thailand last year, bought a local eSIM the second day after my main one kept dropping out. That early morning trick is gold too, I started doing all my video uploads at like 5am before breakfast and it went way faster.
