A buddy told me my 5.0 was breathing wrong after a dyno run
We put my 2018 F150 on the rollers last month and the numbers were flat past 4500 RPM. He said, 'Your intake is a bottle neck, man. It's all show, no go.' I swapped the stock airbox for a true cold air intake from Airaid the next week. The difference is NOT subtle, especially when you get on it hard. I picked up a solid 12 horsepower and the throttle feels way more alive now. Has anyone else found a simple intake swap made this much of a difference on the Coyote motor?

I saw a dyno sheet once that showed the same thing.

Totally, that flat spot past 4500 is a dead giveaway. I had the same exact thing happen on my '16. The stock box just hits a wall. The Airaid was a good call, it basically just lets the motor do what it wants. I'd just make sure you clean and re-oil that filter on schedule, a dirty one will mess up your gains real quick.

Yeah, that totally lines up with what I've seen on the forums. A lot of those factory airboxes are really choked up for noise control, and the Coyote loves to breathe. I read a whole tech article where they proved the stock tube and box just can't flow enough air up top once you're really spinning it. Your buddy was right on the money. That flat power curve is the classic sign. Glad the Airaid worked out, those are solid kits.
