Cold air intake took 6 months to show real gains on my 2018 5.0

I installed a cold air intake last winter here in Michigan and honestly didn't notice much at first... maybe a slightly different sound. But after about 6 months of driving, I finally saw the before-and-after on a dyno at a local shop. The difference was 18 horsepower at the wheels, mostly because the engine learned to adjust fuel trims over time. Has anyone else had a similar slow burn with their intake mod?

6 months to learn fuel trims" sounds like your truck's got commitment issues.

Correct me if I'm wrong @grace_allen, but I think fuel trims usually stabilize way faster than that unless there's a vacuum leak or a bad O2 sensor somewhere. A healthy system should sort itself out in a few drive cycles, not half a year. Sounds like your ECM is just confused or something is actually broke.

Nah, it's more like the truck's ECM just needs a proper reset after whatever got it confused in the first place.
