I used to spend 20 minutes chopping onions by hand every night

Back in 2022 I would cry over a cutting board every single evening because I refused to buy a food processor. My neighbor laughed at me and loaned me her old Cuisinart one day, and now I chop a whole bag of onions in 45 seconds flat. The question is will this whole pre-prepped veggie trend last or will people get lazy and go back to chopping fresh every time like I used to? Has anyone else switched to a gadget and never looked back, or do you think that's just a passing phase?

Man that part about crying over a cutting board every single evening hit me hard because I was exactly the same way. But here's the thing I've noticed - people always go through these cycles where they get all hyped about something new and then slowly drift back to the old way once the novelty wears off. I seen it happen with air fryers, instant pots, even those spiralizer things everyone bought in 2018 and now they're collecting dust. The pre-prepared veggie stuff might stick around for some people but I bet most folks will end up back with a knife and a cutting board when they realize they're paying double for someone else to dice their onions. The real winners are the gadgets that actually save you time without making you feel lazy, like a good food processor or a mandoline slicer. That's just how life goes - we try shortcuts then remember we actually kinda like the process sometimes.

Oh man, you totally nailed it with that cycle thing. I've been through the exact same loop with kitchen stuff too, it's almost funny how predictable we are as humans. The pre-chopped veggie thing is convenient but yeah, the price markup is wild when you actually add it up over time. I think a lot of it comes down to whether you're trying to save time or just avoid the work, and those are two different things you know? What's your go-to gadget that's actually survived the test of time in your kitchen?

Why do we keep falling for the same trick over and over? It's like we forget how our brains work every single time.
