Rant: I used to think memes were pointless, but now I believe they're here to stay
Seeing how they help people talk about tough topics changed my view completely.

Oh totally, my buddy Mark was really shut down after his dad passed, just couldn't talk about it. Then he sent this really dark, perfect meme about grief that just nailed the feeling. It was like a key turning, and we actually started talking for real because of that silly picture. It showed me they're more than jokes, they're like a shared language when real words are too hard.

I used to think memes were just jokes, but @elizabethh63's post and the grief story here changed my mind. They're like a backdoor into real talks when words are too hard. Pretty cool how that works.
